All Creatures Great & Small Open Day | Mini Sessions | July 15th 2017

Considering I only visited All Creatures Great & Small for the first time a few weeks ago, I have grown to completely love it! The staff and volunteers are an amazing bunch who really care about everything they do. The theme for this years open day was "Edwardian" and they went all out to look the part. Guests we're invited to join in too, which I would have done if I was at all fashionable.

It looked all set to rain as we headed down on Saturday morning, there was in fact a light drizzle in the air. Thankfully the weather held out and despite the cloud cover I even felt waves of warm humid air throughout the day. It was amazing to see how many people turned up to show their support, the initial estimate was 3000! There were ice cream sellers, a puppet show, live bands and singers, jumble sales, birds of prey, a BBQ, and delicious cakes coffee and tea in the cafe marquee. The dog show was also a big success. I managed to watch a few minutes of the obedience demonstration and laughed out loud when I saw someone trying to get their Shih Tzu to follow commands (no chance!). Another crowd pleaser seemed to be the ferret racing. My dad turned up and quickly said hello followed by "where's the ferret racing?". As someone pointed him in the right direction he was off like a shot! The idea behind our "Dog Mini Sessions" was to get out amongst the public and promote Tom Harper Photography. The day didn't disappoint as we got to meet some lovely people and their pets. The networking was successful and we were able to create some beautiful images of fur babies while we were at it. So a big thanks to everyone who stopped to chat to us and have your pooches photos taken, we really appreciate it. I've added some of my favourite photos below.
